Description

The Queensland Government Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services is responsible for child protection services, adoption, carers, community recovery and services, disability services, community care, homelessness, seniors, social inclusion, women's policy, youth affairs, incorporation of associations and co-operatives, and registration of charitable and community purpose organisations.

The department funds and administers Queensland Community Care, which provides low-intensity, basic maintenance and support services, such as home care, centre based day care, allied health care and transport, for eligible people under 65 years of age (under 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people). The program targets people whose ability to live independently in the community would, without low-level support, be at risk due to disability or a condition which restricts their ability to carry out activities of daily living.

In accordance with the government’s policy focus to promote the use of assistive technologies in service delivery, the department wishes to engage a supplier to conduct state-wide smart assistive technology information sessions for organisations that deliver community care services. The intent of these sessions is to raise awareness of smart AT and its applicability to community care service provision, and to provide practical information on how smart AT could be incorporated into service delivery and business models. It is expected that international and national speakers will present on relevant topics.
