Overview

Alpha HPA's vision is to sustainably produce future-facing high-purity aluminium-based products on a commercial scale that are critical to the decarbonisation of our world.

The HPA First Project - Stage 2 (the Project) will build Australia's first large-scale ultra-high-purity alumina refinery to supply key high-technology growth sectors that are driving the global energy transition.

The alumina refinery will be located adjacent to the HPA First Stage 1 Precursor Production Facility (PPF) in Gladstone, Queensland, and will produce commercial volumes of high-purity alumina (HPA) and related premium aluminium-based products through proprietary solvent extraction (SX) and refining technology. This Australian-owned and developed Intellectual Property (IP) technology enables the facility to create near-zero waste, recycle nearly 100% of its reagents, operate on 100% renewable energy and produce 70% lower carbon emissions compared to traditional HPA refining methods.

The state-of-the-art facility will leverage the operational PPF and Alpha HPA's IP to produce over 10,000 tonnes of high-purity aluminium products per year, positioning it as one of the largest single-site HPA refineries in the world.

DELIVERY SCHEDULE

Alpha HPA received Project FID in May 2024. The Project's engineering phase is progressing well, and concrete works commenced on the Site in June 2025.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Alpha HPA encourages local industries interested in supplying to the Project to register an expression of interest (EOI) through the Gateway by ICN webpage.

Information on specific supply opportunities will be communicated on the Gateway by ICN Project page as they become available, with local industry able to register its interest against them.

Please ensure that:

  • Your company profile on the Gateway by ICN is complete, up-to-date, and accurate, including electing to be notified via e-mail of supply opportunities.
  • You register your interest as a full or partial-scope supplier (where applicable), and
  • You respond to all Project and work package-specific questions.

It is important that businesses submitting an EOI are aware that their submission does not guarantee that they will progress further in the procurement process. Only companies that can demonstrate capability and capacity in accordance with Alpha HPA's standards will be invited to pre-qualify for specific opportunities.

FURTHER ASSISTANCE

Alpha HPA strongly encourages local industries to contact ICN Queensland in the first instance to improve their understanding of the EOI process.
