Weed and Insect Control Services

Under this Request for Tender (the Request), the FPC is seeking to establish a panel of contractors to conduct one or more of the following plantation establishment and maintenance activities requiring weed and pest control under a Standing Offer Arrangement (SOA):

• Pre- and post-plant weed control (broad or strip spraying using boom sprayers) on first and second rotation sites in preparation for establishment of up to 4,000 hectares of softwood plantations per year;
• Insecticide application using boom-sprayers or misters over newly planted softwood seedlings on sites identified with pest insect numbers that are likely to cause seedling mortality over newly planted areas;
• Annual boom-spray herbicide application on 6- to 15-metre-wide firebreaks for annual fire protection across the FPC’s 50,000 hectare plantation estate;
• Physical removal of weeds and/or spot spray herbicide application to control and/or contain ‘declared and environmental’ weeds as part of the FPC’s biosecurity and ‘good neighbour’ responsibilities; and
• Eucalypt coppice and pine wildling control within and adjacent to plantations to maximise plantation productivity and reduce fire risk.

The services described in this request are limited to the application of pesticide only. The procurement and provision of the relevant pesticide required for the Services will be the responsibility of the FPC.
