Supply and Servicing of Refuse Containers - Waste Transfer Station Research Road Pooraka

The City of is one of the largest local government areas in and has a population of over 110,000. The Salisbury Council occupies an area of 161 square kilometres and is located 25km north of .

The Waste Transfer Station is situated on at Pooraka in the southern area of the city and directly provides hard waste disposal facilities for residents and a catchment facility for other council areas that border onto the area.

The Waste Transfer Station is all weather fully sealed facility and currently provides twelve bays in which roll-on/roll-off waste containers are located. The waste containers are selectively dedicated to various waste materials that are required to be transported to different disposal locations in . Containerised waste is currently sorted into the following categories:

·General Waste

·Green Organic

·Ferrous and Non Ferrous metals

Sorting of all waste to recover recyclable materials is contracted to an external ‘Recycler’ contractor. The recycling contractor currently uses two of the twelve bays for its recycling activities. The waste containers used by the recycler contractor are currently provided by others and will not form part of this contract.

The Waste Transfer Station is open every day except Christmas day, New Years day, Good Friday and Anzac day although the Principal reserves the right to change the Station’s hours and days of business at any time during the term of this contract.
