Description

The US & Australian Department of Defence are proposing to relocate an optical Space Surveillance Telescope (SST) from the United States to the Harold E Holt Naval Communications Station at Exmouth, Western Australia. To prepare for the main construction of the telescope facility, a pad (construction platform) and an access track to the pad need to be designed and constructed. The project involves:

1. The design and construction of a Construction Platform. Levelling of the site to provide a graded and compacted area to be used as the Construction Platform for the Main Works to be completed by Other Contractors. The Construction Platform shall be constructed to allow subsequent the stable movement of all vehicles involved in the transport and installation of the telescope and asociated activities.

2. The design and construction of an access track of approximately 900m in length from the track serviceing the Harold E Holt borefields (at Bore No.18) to the proposed location of the Constrauction Platform. Upgrade of the track for a more permanent access is intended to be undertaken by Other Contractors.
