The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has its Central Office in Belconnen, Canberra and Regional Office in each Australian State and Territory capital city. The ABS has been running an in-house Telecommunication Billing Analysis and Cost Recovery system for over 20 years. This allows the ABS to do cost recovery of the voice, data and mobile charges back to the relevant Cost Centre on a monthly basis. This has been utilising software that has evolved over this time; however the software is reaching its technological limits.
