WordPress Platform as a Service Hosting Services

QUT has accumulated over 700 sites using WordPress as their Content Management System (CMS) and hosting platform. Many of these are not being managed centrally and lack appropriate governance and oversight. In addition, some of the primary infrastructure hosting some of QUT’s WordPress sites is nearing end-of-life and no longer meets the recommended minimum technical requirements for WordPress.

Additionally, there are potential reputational, operational and business risks to QUT due to issues with technical stability and security of its WordPress portfolio under the current federated (non-centralised) management model.

The purposes of the proposed tender are:

• The identification and engagement of a suitable and cost-effective partner to provide cloud-based web hosting services for QUT’s WordPress websites on a Software as a Service (SaaS) or Platform as a Service (PaaS) basis
• The identification and potential engagement of a suitable and cost-effective partner to either wholly manage or assist in the migration of QUT WordPress websites to the new cloud-based hosting service
• The identification and potential engagement of a suitable and cost-effective partner(s) to provide on-going maintenance and support of the new cloud-based hosting service and additional specialist web development services.
