Description

Expressions of interest are sought for the development and production of The Australian Journal of Emergency Management (AJEM) for a three year period, from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2012. The journal is published quarterly on the 28th of February, 31st of May, 31st of August and 30th of November each year. The journal is A4 in size, contains 60-70 pages with full colour process to a standard commensurate with sample available on request from Contact Officer.
Currently the AJEM is also published on the EMA website as a PDF. It is anticipated that future enhancements to the electronic publishing format will be investigated during the contract period. We are seeking innovative approaches to these requirements.
This EOI consists of two service requirements. Respondents are invited to respond to either part A or B or both parts A and B. Submissions for only some of the elements in each part will not be accepted. The two parts are as follows:
Part A:
Editor / Project Manager – this includes (but is not limited to) the provision of editorial services, presentation of AJEM at appropriate forums (as directed by EMA), sourcing of articles and management of the development and publication of each quarterly issue under the direction of the Editor-in-Chief or delegate. The Editor/Project Manager will instruct the production element (Part B).
Part B:
Production – this includes (but is not limited to) the design, typesetting, printing and distribution of each quarterly issue. The number of print copies required is approximately 3400 with distribution both domestically and internationally. Production of 50, A3 full colour posters for distribution by EMA is also required. Additionally a CD containing a PDF of each issue of the journal as published is to be provided to EMA immediately following publication of each edition. This is required for uploading to the Internet. The production element will be instructed by the Editor / Project Manager.
