Australian Government Department of Defence
Provision of Aeromedical Evacuation Support for the Australian Army
Details
Description
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) conducts a number of activities in remote parts of Australia.
The nature of many of these activities is such that AME support is necessary due to the distances from major health facilities, where delays in treatment could compromise patient safety and longer term outcomes. AME support is required in order to preserve the health of any casualty identified by the Authorised Officer (AO) who is injured or falls ill during these activities. AME support comprises advanced planning to support each activity, medical equipment including a Rotary Wing (Helicopter) and/or Fixed Wing aircraft and an AME team on stand-by for the duration of the activity. When the AME is activated, it would be in order to move the casualty identified by the AO from the site of injury (or illness) to a more secure site with appropriate medical capabilities / facilities thereby minimising the risk of exacerbation of illness or injury to the casualty.
The successful tenderer will provide ongoing AME support to these activities by virtue of a Standing Offer arrangement for an initial period of up to twenty four (24) months commencing 01 Jul 2016 and ending 30 June 2018, with options to extend the standing offer period for a further two (2) periods of twenty four (24) months each, until 30 June 2022.
