Description

These specifications are for the supply of one 6.2m Aluminium Centre Console Monohull Vessel, trailer, running and ancillary equipment for use as a research vessel by SARDI Aquatic Sciences. The vessel will be required to be delivered to Moorhouse Road, Gillman, South Australia.

Duty

The vessel will be of proven, robust design with good stability and handling qualities. In addition to the motors and standard running requirements of Class 2C (restricted) vessels, it will be required to carry up to a maximum of 4 persons with diving and other equipment. The vessel will be used for various research operations in the restricted vessel waters (15 miles offshore) of South Australia. These operations will include, but are not restricted to, the various Research and Development operations undertaken by the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) staff. These include;

• Scuba diving operations,
• Dabbing and line fishing for targeted fish species,
• Environmental assessment using video and water sampling equipment,
• Shallow water fish juvenile surveys.

The vessel will be launched from boat ramps throughout the state and will be in operation approximately 60 days per annum during which time the vessel may be transported over road surfaces of varying condition and distances exceeding 1,000kms in a single trip. For this reason both boat and trailer must be of robust construction.
