National Capital Authority
Anzac Parade Pavement Reconstruction - Stage 1 (Southbound Carriageway)
Details
Description
The National Capital Authority (NCA) is the Australian Government statutory agency charged with creating a national capital which symbolises Australia’s heritage, values and aspirations, is internationally recognised and worthy of pride by Australians.
The NCA manages the Australian Government’s continuing interest in the planning, promotion, enhancement and maintenance of Canberra as the nation’s capital, on behalf of all Australians.
Anzac Parade is a major ceremonial avenue set along the Land Axis which forms a key feature of the Griffin’s 1912 plan for Canberra. The dual three lane north-east and south-west bound carriageways are approximately 1040m long separated by a 36m wide median.
The NCA plans to reconstruct the southbound (east) carriageway of Anzac Parade between Constitution Avenue and Fairbairn Avenue as well as partial reconstruction of the Blamey Crescent/Currong Street/Anzac Parade intersection.
The reconstruction work generally involves a full depth pavement replacement and will incorporate the removal and reconstruction of new kerbs and stormwater sumps. In addition, new subsoil drainage will be provided along the length of the reconstruction works.
