Provision of Geochemical (Platinum Group Metal) Analytical

The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) has conducted extensive mapping and sampling of mafic–ultramafic intrusions within the western Yilgarn Craton over the past 15 years. Recent diamond drilling has significantly enhanced geochemical coverage of these formations, providing opportunities to study the distribution and fractionation of platinum-group elements (PGEs). DEMIRS aims to further characterize magmatic fractionation of PGEs (Ru, Rh, Pd, Ir, Os, Pt, Au) through precise analytical methods due to their low concentration levels (mostly <1 to 5 ppb, but some up to 100s ppb) in these samples. The project will include approximately 300 samples over three years to gain regional and geological insights, with potential for academic publications and broader applications.
