The primary aim of the Pilot Program is to investigate the feasibility of implementing an asthma care service in community pharmacy.Asthma care within community pharmacy was the focus of research undertaken through the Pharmacy Asthma Care Program (PACP) under the Third Community Pharmacy Agreement.
The Pilot Program will be conducted in two stages, with this initial implementation stage informing a limited national roll-out of the Service in Stage 2, anticipated to commence in January 2009.
The purpose of this RFT is to seek a suitable individual, organisation, or consortium, capable of:
• implementing all aspects of Stage 1 of the Pilot Program, which is due to commence in January 2008;
• developing and refining program materials, protocols and recruitment strategies during Stage 1 to ensure the smooth implementation of Stage 2 of the Pilot Program; and
• undertaking clinical research to determine the optimal number of in-pharmacy visits required to achieve improved and sustainable outcomes for patients who have received the asthma care service.
