Description
The Department of Water is seeking Offers from suitable Respondents to undertake Cable Tool Drilling, construction of new monitoring bores and conductor casing installation. The drilling program will carry out works on the Swan Coastal Plain between Mandurah and Preston Beach at two (2) sites, with a total of 200 meters of drilling required.
Cable tool is the preferred drilling technique due to the expected presence of Tamala Limestone at the drill sites. The Department of Water’s experience in this area suggests that cable tool is the safest and most reliable technique in these potentially Karstic areas. Alternative drilling methods will be considered if evidence can be provided of alternative safe, reliable and cost-effective means of installing monitoring bores and conductor casing.
The drilling program includes the installation of two (2) new groundwater monitoring bores using cable tool techniques, with one (1) at each site. It also includes the installation of four (4) conductor casings using cable tool techniques, with two (2) at each site. To ensure hole stability, conductor casing should be installed through the superficial formations and into the first clay/shale bed below. A list of bore coordinates and estimated depths for each site is outlined in the scope of work.
