The Department of Corrective Services employs around 2000 Prison Officers (POs), including Emergency Support Group staff, Vocational Support Officers and Work Camp Officers, and 200 Youth Custodial Officers (YCOs) at any one time.
Given the high-risk nature of this occupational group, psychological screening is an integral part of the selection process for POs and YCOs with DCS. The aim is to identify those applicants who have or may develop psychological problems that could interfere with job performance.
