Appointment to a Panel of Pre-Qualified Contractors to Provide Services for the Removal and Disposal of Wrecked Vessels throughout Western Australia

The Department of Transport (DoT) is responsible for the removal and disposal of wrecked vessels in all state coastal waters and inland waterways within Western Australia.

DoT has a requirement for the removal of vessels that constitute, or are likely to constitute, a hazard or obstruction to other vessels navigating those waters surrounding the wrecked vessel.

Once a vessel has been declared to be a wreck and upon removal, those vessels are generally required to be placed in temporary storage (while a disposal order is sought from a magistrate, which may take up to six months), prior to disposal.

DoT is seeking to form a panel of qualified salvage ‘contractors’ that have the resources, equipment, personnel and appropriate skills and experience to safely and cost effectively remove and dispose of (where required) identified wrecked vessels.
