Macquarie Point Development Corporation
Supply of Grounds Maintenance and Horticultural Services
Details
Description
The Corporation is a state-owned instrumentality and has the role of remediating and redeveloping the brownfields site located between the CBD and the working port of the City of Hobart.
The proposed grounds services are to be undertaken to ensure the Corporation grounds are fit for purpose and provide a clean and healthy environment for staff to undertake their assigned duties and to ensure the best possible experience for all site visitors.
The horticultural portion of the contract primarily services the Edible Precinct which houses a variety of European plant species alongside native bush foods. The site is home one of Australia’s largest edible precincts which is open to the general public. The design of the garden demonstrates environmentally friendly urban farming methods while integrating unique aspects of the states horticultural heritage whilst supporting organisations such as the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre, Bethlehem House and the Migrant Resource Centre with crops used to cook meals for members of the community.
