Description
This EOI has been developed in order to ascertain the interest in, and canvass the range of possibilities relating to providing a Health Information and Referral Service for Street-Based Sex Workers Who Inject Drugs.
Output Deliverables will include but may not be limited to the following:
1. Provision of an outreach service to street-based sex workers on at least two nights per week and during daytime hours as necessary. An in-house service will also be provided from a fixed site location.
2. Provision of harm reduction education and resources to street-based sex workers as required through both the outreach and in-house services. Harm reduction education may be on topics including blood-borne virus transmission and prevention, safe needle and syringe disposal, alternative routes of drug administration, safe sex, heroin overdose prevention and safer injecting practices. Harm reduction resources may include access to safer injecting and safer sex equipment such as the provision of needles and syringes, prophylactics and other items as needed.
3. Provision of a referral service to street-based sex workers. Referrals may be required to be provided to, for example, drug treatment agencies and services, other health services, welfare and social services.
4. Provision of crisis assistance to street-based sex workers to assist them to gain access to adequate accommodation, social and community services, legal services, and other services as required.
5. Convening regular meetings of an inter-agency/key stakeholder network group for the purpose of sharing information and responding promptly to issues affecting street-based sex workers
The period of service provision will be between 1st October 2009 and 30th June 2012.
