South Australian Research and Development Institute
Commercialisation of new Milling Oat Varieties.
Details
Description
The South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI), the Department of Agriculture and Food Western Australia (DAFWA) and the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) are the joint owners (hereafter referred to as the “OWNERS”) of new oat cultivars emanating from SARDI’s oat breeding program.
The National oat breeding program has a sound track record for developing and releasing varieties that have improved agronomic, yield and quality traits over existing varieties, thus ensuring growers and end users maximise their economic return.
The OWNERS are looking to develop a long term partnership with a commercialising company interested in co-investment in the milling component of the DAFWA node of the NOBP. The identification and selection of a commercial partner to be granted exclusive commercialisation rights to any variety will be conducted via an open and transparent process. Commercial partners willing and able to contribute earlier in the identification and multiplication of future grain oat varieties for commercial release will be viewed favourably, with a view that such commercially driven contributions will maximise the adoption of grain oat varieties and enhance profitability of growers.
