Details
Description
Program 2: Optimise oat phenology for Australian oat production environments.
Crop yield is dependent on matching oat phenology to oat production environments. Optimising phenology to the environment ensures that the risk of critical stages of development coinciding with environmental stress is minimised. Additionally, the timing and duration of different developmental phases have a significant impact on final grain number and yield. The aim of this program of work is to identify key genetic regulators of oat phenology and determine the optimal combinations of these genetic regulators to best match oat phenology with Australian oat production environments to maximise oat yield.
