Description

The purpose of this project is to provide the Queensland Government with an evidence base to develop a preferred pathway for the Queensland buildings sector to contribute to the state’s objectives under the Queensland Climate Change Response (QCCR), namely:
a) interim emission reduction and renewable energy targets to 2030; and
b) a zero-net emissions economy by 2050.
Specifically, this work will inform the Queensland Government’s work to implement the Queensland Climate Transition Strategy (QCTS) Action 1.5 “to reduce carbon emissions in the built environment”, as well as deliver on relevant Sustainable Buildings Actions in the Queensland Building Plan (QBP).
Research, data development, modelling and analysis is needed to understand the opportunities for Queensland’s buildings sector to develop an integrated ‘pathway’ to support the QCCR targets.
