Description
The Department of Infrastructure Energy and Resources in Tasmania is developing its Road Information Management System (RIMS) to facilitate analysis of Tasmania's transport infrastructure and related logistics to facilitate better corporate decision making. RIMS consists of a database and a web based interface delivered to users via the Department's intranet. It holds transport infrastructure related information owned or managed by the Department. The Phase 3 development of RIMS incorporates three new modules. These modules are: Crash Data Manager - to improve the use of traffic crash information in the formulation of road safety strategies and initatives and to evaluate their effectiveness; Traffic Statistics - to streamline and improve the efficiency and accuracy of traffic statistics calculation and reporting; and Bus Route Manager - to facilitate the management of contracted regular passenger transport services administered by the Department. The development will also incorporate modifications to the existing system and a new map viewer.
