WA Public Transport Authority
Claremont Station Project: Project Scheduler
Details
Description
- The Forrestfield-Airport Link (FAL) is a $1.86 billion rail project currently under construction and due for completion in 2021. FAL will deliver a new rail service to the eastern suburbs of Perth, connecting with the Midland line which continues to Fremantle from Perth Station, providing connectivity between Perth’s north eastern and south western suburbs. FAL will increase frequency of train services between the Perth and Bayswater stations to cater for increasing passenger demand. This will result in an increase to the number of trains on the Fremantle line which will require turnback sidings to the west of Claremont Station to maintain overall network efficiency.
- In December 2017, the Business Case was approved recommending Claremont as the preferred location for a turnback facility to support train operations for the Forrestfield Airport Link (FAL) which will commence operations in 2021. Following consultation with key stakeholders, the Claremont Station Project will be delivered in two phases. Phase 1 will deliver the essential rail infrastructure required to provide the level of train service operations required for FAL and will include:
- two turnback sidings; and
- reconstruction and extension of the station’s island platform to align with the new track providing compliance to DDA requirements.
- During the definition phase it was identified that the scope shall include:
- an underpass that connects to the Principal Shared Path approximately 180 metres west of Claremont Station to retain connectivity between Gugeri Street and Claremont Crescent with the closure of the western pedestrian crossing; and
- a new bus interchange to improve the amenity, safety and security for passengers.
Phase 1 will result the permanent removal of the western pedestrian crossing and retention of the pedestrian crossing to the east of the station until completion of Phase 2 of the project. Phase 2 of the project which will extend the platform for the train lengthening project and provide a DDA compliant step free overpass to the station. The project will be delivered under a direct managed delivery model with signalling and overhead line construction being delivered by PTA resources.
The scope of the request for tender will be the provision of a Project Scheduler to support to the Claremont Station project team and other projects within the Programs and Projects branch as required.
