METRONET is the State’s vision to integrate transport and land use planning in the State and provide a framework to support sustainable growth of greater metropolitan Perth over the next 50 to 100 years.
METRONET Stage 1 Initiatives include approximately 70 kilometres of new heavy passenger rail and 16 new rail stations, which represents the single largest investment in public transport in Perth’s history.
This RFP describes the Project, which comprises a portion of the METRONET Stage 1 Initiatives. The Project comprises:
- Yanchep Rail Extension which includes:
- extension of the Joondalup Line from Butler Station to Yanchep; and
- traction power supply augmentation for the Joondalup Line; and
- Thornlie–Cockburn Link which includes:
- partial duplicatin and then extension of the passenger rail line from Beckenham Junction (located approximately 360m Thornlie side of Beckenham Station)to Cockburn Central Station;
- construction of approximately 11 kilometres of new dual-gauge freight line, relocation/slewing of approximately 11 kilometres of existing dual-gauge freight line between Thornlie Station and the Glen Iris Tunnel;
- traction power supply augmentation for the extension to Cockburn Central Station; and
- track, signalling and platform modification works to the Perth Stadium Station; and
any Optional Works Packages that are included under the PAA
