Construction of Chalkies Beach Short Walk and Viewing Area

Located approximately 24 nautical miles from Airlie Beach, Chalkies Beach is on the western side of Haslewood Island, which is part of the Whitsunday Islands National Park. The proposed walking track starts from the southern end of Chalkies Beach, where it climbs through a small gully to a lookout providing stunning views across to Whitehaven Beach, Hill inlet and the Eastern side of Whitsunday Island.

The proposed development will follow a roughed-in alignment with an objective to:

• Construct 270mm of Class 4 walking track with nominal width of 1200mm;
• Install 246 pre-cast concrete step units; and
• Construct a viewing area comprising of a 30m loop track with rock wall, steps and handrail.

The Contractor will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the construction phase for these components of the development.
