QLD Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy
Dismantling and Disposal of Plant and Infrastructure
Details
Description
The Bloodwood Creek Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) site (the Site) became an abandoned mine in March 2019, following the disclaiming of mining tenures held on the land. Both surface and sub-surface infrastructure remains on site, including several wells for UCG processes and water monitoring, a gathering network, process water management equipment and a power generation plant with associated infrastructure. These items present health, safety and environmental risks that need to be assessed and managed by Technical Services (TS), in line with the Abandoned Mines Management Policy.
This aims to remove all redundant plant, equipment, buildings, and infrastructure to render the site in as safe a condition as practicable.
