NEW PROCESS FOR HOUSING TRUST BUILDING WORK

The Trust will in future require all building contractors to become prequalified before they can perform building work. Building contractors on the current prequalified list are required to re-register their interest. The SA Housing Trust has significant rolling programs for its Home Renovation ($20m), Newbuild ($45m) and Special Projects ($4m) totalling approx $69m annually. Now the Trust in consultation with the Master Builders Association and the Housing Industry Association is implementing a revised prequalification system whereby building contractors may nominate the type of work they may prefer; nominate the locations they would prefer to operate; nominate to work in either tenanted or non-tenanted properties. Building contractors are invited to attend information sessions at any of the following locations. Tues 20 Nov 2001, 6pm, Master Builders Assoc., 47 South Tce, Adelaide; Thurs 22 Nov 2001,7pm,Housing Industry Assoc.,Station Place, Hindmarsh; Fri 23 Nov 2001,5pm,L2 Riverside Centre, North Tce, Adelaide. One of the first programs to commence this financial year will be work dealing with the provision of Kitchen and Bathroom renovations to approx 350 properties across the State for an estimated value of $3.3m annually.
