SA Water Corporation
Request for Expressions of Interest Electricity, Renewable Energy/Carbon Permits and Carbon Offsets for the Adelaide Desalination Project
Details
Description
The South Australian Government has announced a $3 billion investment in water infrastructure for the State, including a seawater desalination plant to initially meet up to 25% of Adelaide's water needs.
The Government has committed to the project being 'carbon neutral' including requirements to operate the plant and delivery pipeline with renewable energy or purchase of carbon permits and/or offsets.
SA Water is seeking responses to the request for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably qualified respondents to provide standard grid electricity, products to abate the carbon emissions associated with electricity - accredited renewable energy or Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme ("CPRS") permits and products to abate non-electricity based carbon emissions via accredited carbon offsets.
SA Water expects respondents to possess the requisite electricity retail, asset management (as appropriate) and energy/carbon trading capabilities and experience to undertake a contract of this nature.
This EOI request has been called to enable SA Water to shortlist those best qualified for this significant State infrastructure project prior to seeking formal proposals.
