Description
The South Australian Government is investigating plans for a seawater desalination plant.
The South Australian Water Corporation (SA Water) invites experienced companies (Registrants) to submit Expressions of Interest for the design, construction, management, commissioning and operation of a temporary Pilot Plant.
The Pilot Plant design shall incorporate flexibility, control features and instrumentation that will allow a range of tests to be carried out using seawater. Information gained from the Pilot Plant operation will help to establish the key design criteria, process configurations and chemical dosing regimes for the pre-treatment system and to develop performance specifications for the full scale plant. An integral part of the Pilot Plant operation will involve quantitative assessment of process performance and reliability and assessment of filtered water quality subject to seasonal variations in seawater quality including storm events.
The Pilot Plant testing (stage 2) will involve performance assessment of reverse osmosis (RO) membranes.
A critical requirement is for the Pilot Plant to be installed by or before July 2008.
