Stakeholder Engagement - Hillarys Youth and Family Plaza

The Maritime Directorate within the Department of Transport and Major infrastructure has identified the need to improve recreational amenity and address emerging youth?related behavioural issues at Hillary’s Boat Harbour, which is owned and managed by the Department. The former Great Escape water park site has remained inactive since its closure in 2016, resulting in reduced activation and limited recreational opportunities for young people and families. As part of the Department’s interim reactivation initiative for Hillary’s Boat Harbour, funding has been committed to deliver a range of short?term upgrades while longer?term precinct planning is undertaken. The proposed Youth and Family Plaza forms part of these interim upgrades and is intended to provide temporary activation of the site for approximately ten years. To inform the scope of works and preparation of a reference design, targeted stakeholder engagement is required with young people, families with younger children, and accessibility representatives. This engagement will provide evidence?based insights to guide design considerations and functional requirements for the Youth and Family Plaza.
