Description
The expansion of the Perth urban rail network has presented an opportunity to improve the integration between public transport and motorbikes. It is proposed to install large scale motorbike shelters at selected train stations that will provide protection from the weather while also providing security for motorbike and moped users. This will hopefully encourage more train users to commute to the train station by motorbike or moped rather than by car.
Fourteen stations along the Clarkson and Mandurah Lines have been earmarked to have motorbike shelters installed. It has been proposed that all motorbike parking will be free of charge even if the shelter is located in a paid car park.
