J0126: Bulimba Barracks Partial Disposal and Unit Relocation
Details
Description
The proposed disposal and unit relocation of the Bulimba Barracks site includes approximately 40% of the existing Navy Headquarters - South Queensland facilities. The proposed loss of supporting infrastructure will necessitate the redevelopment of the retained site area to include the provision of independent access, services and new infrastructure within a secured boundary. The purpose of the works is to provide replacement and upgraded infrastructure and services to the residual portion of the site being retained by Defence.
The relocation of the displaced Units facilitates the requirements for redevelopment of the retained barracks area to ensure all functionality is maintained on the reduced barracks footprint. The scope of works is anticipated to include:
- Construction of a multi-purpose facility at the barracks;
- Engineering services provision;
- New entry gate;
- Extension of Taylor Road to connect to the new entry gate; and
- Information Communications Technology (ICT) service provision.
These works will be delivered through a Head Contract (Design and Construct) procurement model. A 5% design concept will be provided at time of tender.
