Details
Description
IP Australia administers intellectual property rights and legislation relating to Patents, Trade Marks, Designs, and Plant Breeder’s Rights in Australia. We are committed to protecting and promoting the knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within these systems.
In doing this, IP Australia is establishing an Indigenous Knowledge Panel pilot (the Panel) which will comprise of 3 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to advise on Indigenous Knowledge or ‘IK’ policy and legislative matters, participate in assessments of intellectual property or ‘IP’ applications that contain or appear to contain IK, and promote awareness and understanding of IK and IP rights.
For the purpose of this Approach to Market all references to the term ‘Panel’ refer to the Indigenous Knowledge Panel pilot and are defined as a group of persons appointed to perform a function (similar to a committee or board). This term does not refer to a panel arrangement for goods and services that is accessible to government buyers through AusTender.
