Description

The Department of Tourism, Parks, Heritage and the Arts on behalf of the Tasmanian Government is seeking Expressions of Interest for the development of tourism accommodation services at Pumphouse Point in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. The site, which is located on the southern banks of Lake St Clair within the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, is about 11 hectares in area. An imposing, now disused, pumping station building stands on the jetty extending off the point and the main 1930's 'art deco' style buildings and related infrastructure remain in place. This is an outstanding site for investors with empathy and vision. Accordingly, any development of this site will need to exhibit world best practice in terms of environmental, cultural and visitor management and conform with the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area Management Plan 1999.
