Description

The Geraldton Port Authority (GPA) is inviting tenders for the electrical and structural design of a new Motor Control Centre (MCC) room and the design of the upgrade of the on board electrical installation for an existing Ship Loader at Berth 4, Geraldton Port. The existing MCC is located in the ship loader’s unsealed winch room. The MCC and the electrical installation have been in use since 1992 and both require replacement to comply with current Australian Standards. A new MCC is to be provided in a new dedicated MCC room to be located elsewhere within the ship loader.

In addition to substantial electrical design, there is a requirement for structural design of the MCC room and of any structural supports for that room within or attached to the ship loader structure. A prime consideration in the design and scheduling of the upgrade works will be the minimisation of ship loader downtime during those works. Therefore GPA also requires project management skills to be applied by the consultant in the development of options with cost estimates and timelines for various shutdown scenarios.
