Description

DHS employs more than 38,000 employees within more than 500 metropolitan, rural and remote sites offices around Australia. As a result of legislative requirements and DHS' commitment to the safety, health and well being of their employees, we require the services of qualified professional staff to provide a range of medical services to our employees.

The provision of medical services to all Department of Human Service (DHS) employees Australia-wide. It is DHS' intention to establish a panel of providers for the required services.

(a)pre-employment medical assessments to ensure that the applicant meets the medical fitness criteria required to undertake the duties, which may include but are not limited to:

(i)assessment of medical history;

(ii)assessment of occupational requirements;

(iii)medical examination;

(iv)consultation with treating medical practitioners;

(v)audiometry and eyesight testing; and

(vi)professional opinion of the ongoing fitness of the applicant to undertake the duties required;

(b)Fitness for Duty medical assessments by medical practitioners and medical specialists including occupational physicians, which may include but are not limited to:

(i)assessment of medical history;

(ii)assessment of occupational requirements;

(iii)medical examination;

(iv)consultation with treating medical practitioners;

(v)professional opinion of the ongoing fitness of the applicant to undertake the duties required; and

(vi)specific assessments and opinion as requested by DHS;

(c)rehabilitation and return to work assessments by medical practitioners and medical specialists in accordance with Section 36 of the Commonwealth Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988;

(d)Fitness for Duty medical assessments combined with rehabilitation and return to work assessments which may include but are not limited to:

(i)assessment of medical history;

(ii)assessment of occupational requirements;

(iii)medical examination;

(iv)consultation with treating medical practitioners;

(v)rehabilitation and return to work medical assessments in accordance with Section 36 of the Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988;

(vi)professional opinion of the ongoing fitness of the applicant to undertake the duties required and/or engage in rehabilitation and return to work; and

(vii)specific assessments and opinion as requested by DHS;

(e)supplemental reports following a Fitness for Duty medical assessment or rehabilitation and return to work assessment that do not require a further medical examination;

(f)assessments by registered psychologists, as required by a medical practitioner or by DHS;

(g)psychiatric assessments, as required by a medical practitioner or by DHS;

(h)the provision, administration and promotion of vaccinations, which will include but are not limited to the flu vaccine. The vaccinations may be administered:

(i)in the DHS workplace; or

(ii)on the provider's premises;

(i)eye-sight testing in conjunction with a medical assessment;

(j)audiometry in conjunction with a medical assessment;

(k)audiometry as a stand-alone assessment on site or at clinic;

(l)specialist audiometry as a stand-alone assessment which may include but are not limited to:

(i)speech discrimination testing; and

(ii)full audiological examination;

(m)advisory services in relation to a wide range of employment related medical issues including but not limited to stress and pain management, and communicable diseases.
