Description

Australia is the world’s leading exporter of faba beans, holding about 33% of global trade. With 75% of Australian faba beans exported to Egypt and an additional 15% to the Middle East and North Africa, demand continues to grow, especially in Southeast Asia. Australian faba beans are highly valued for their colour, seed size, and quality, presenting significant growth opportunities in emerging markets for food, feed, and protein extraction.

To capitalise on these opportunities, GRDC invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) for Stage 1 from potential collaborative partners and co-investors to join the next phases of the faba bean breeding program with GRDC and the University of Adelaide.

The process will proceed in two stages:

Stage 1 (ITR): Submission of EOIs addressing the Stage 1 Selection Criteria.

Stage 2 (RFT): Shortlisted applicants from Stage 1 will be invited to submit detailed proposals.

This is an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of the Australian faba bean breeding program and deliver tangible benefits to Australian grain growers.

Details of the expression of interest and the application process can be found on the GRDC website.
