WA Public Transport Authority
Bus Stop Accessibility Works Program: Concreting Services
Details
Description
The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is committed to ensuring that its facilities and services comply with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act and the associated Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (“Disability Standards”). Since 2010/11 the State Government of Western Australia has allocated significant funding over a fourteen year period to undertake an ongoing works program that will progressively make all 13,000 bus stops meet the requirements of the Disability Standards.
To date over 1,700 bus stops have been significantly upgraded to comply with the Disability Standards. It is planned that this program will upgrade approximately 600 bus stops each year.
Under this component of the accessibility upgrade works, the PTA requires the supply of all labour (including supervision), plant and materials, to construct in situ concrete bus stop hardstands and footpath connections as detailed below. The PTA plans to utilise these services on a range of different projects over the Contract term and requires well experienced and skilled concreting contractors familiar with providing kerbing, general paving services and simple civil construction services.
