Main Roads is intending to deliver the $225M Great Eastern Hwy upgrading project between Kooyong Road and Tonkin Hwy using an alliance contract.
The project includes the design and construction of approximately 4.1km of the highway to six lanes between Kooyong Road and Tonkin hwy.
It is expected that Request for Proposals (RFP) documents will be available for distribution to pre-registered proponents only on or before 2 June 2010, when a briefing session is likely to be held. It is anticipated that the RFP will close in mid July 2010 and be awarded in October 2010.
The National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry, in accordance with the Australian Government Implementation Guidelines August 2009, applies to this project.
It is a requirement of this project that any persons contracted to undertake the building work be accredited under the Australian Government Building and Construction OHS Accreditation Scheme established by the Building and Construction Industry Improvement Act 2005, at the time of lodgement of the Request for Proposal (RFP) and while the building work is being carried out.
Pre-qualification: Proponents must be pre-qualified with Main Roads Roadworks Category RW5 and Structures Category SW1 or higher. Preference in the selection process will be given to Proponents whom include RW3 and / or RW4 contractors in their consortium.
