Hire Car Rental Licence - Whyalla Airport

The subject sites being offered for tender comprise the following elements:

• Ready Bay Car Rental Parking Bays - at the Terminal entrance;
• Medium Term Car Rental Parking Bays;
• Terminal Rental Car Kiosk – situated within the proposed expanded and refurbished terminal (plans attached);
• Car Rental Storage Yard; and
• Washdown Shed – located with the Car Rental Storage Yard.

Tenderers are being asked to nominate a number of bays / land area for each of the different components in a competitive open tender environment.

Council has invested heavily in the Airport over recent years and has a program for ongoing investment including terminal expansion and other landside development such as car parking and car rental facilities. Council is seeking to grow its revenue base from the Airport as part of its financial risk management and in the ordinary course of financial management of its community assets. This tender forms part of Council’s financial strategy.

All current car rental leases / licences are held on month-to-month arrangements and/or have relocation / demolition clauses which give Council maximum flexibility to relocate operators in accordance with the proposed layouts pursuant to this Tender.

Location and Proposed Operations

The car rental facilities are located within and in close proximity to the Whyalla Airport Terminal.

Ready Bay Car Rental Parking Bays

There are 20 ready bays available within 20 metres of the Terminal entrance. These bays provide ideal access for customers to collect vehicles (not returning vehicles) and are priced at a premium to the Medium Term Car Rental Parking Bays and Storage Areas, which are located further from the Terminal area. These Ready Bays are available for licence and will be allocated at Council’s discretion pursuant to this Tender.

Tenderers may apply for a minimum of 5 ready bays and a maximum of 10 ready bays.
