The supply of Security Services to the Magistrates Courts

Court security is confined to ensuring peace is kept and maintained, and the protection of Magistrates, Court staff, witnesses, counsel, prosecutors and the public within the precincts of the Magistrates Courts of Tasmania. The required duties of the Contractor's security officers include: the operation of a metal detector and scanning individuals entering the court with hand held metal detectors, maintaining public order in courtrooms, waiting areas and precincts of teh courts and provide appropriate assistance to members of the public, calling witnesses and defendents in court, keeping charge of persons in the public gallery of the court who are directed by the Magistrate to wait for documents to be signed, the escort of defendents to the bail room and ensure they remain there until documentation is completed and signed, including where necessary executing bail documents, escorting prisoners to and from cells and assist Corrective Services personnel and Police as required, the custody and transport of prisoners as required, carrying out directions of Magistrates in court, thet ransfer of documentation from court rooms to the registry administration, other administrative duties within the court registry, and assisting the Chief Warden in an Emergency Evacuation or other Emergency.
