Practical Foundations of Biology; Practical Foundations of Inorganic Chemistry - WPCA-RSE-22-020

Micro-credentials in the NETM will be commissioned in response to industry-identified skills needs. The NETM and its governance process will facilitate increased responsiveness to industry requirements than in traditional models of education. Through the development of the Practical Foundations of Biology micro-credential, the Authority is looking to deliver the following learning outcomes: Demonstrate knowledge of cellular nucleus biology, including DNA replication, transcription and translation Describe and apply key concepts related to proteinomics Apply knowledge of cellular biology to the manufacture of solidose medications Explain how systems used in manufacturing processes could impact cells, with particular focus on eliminating or mitigating the impact of contaminants Through the development of the Practical Foundations of Inorganic Chemistry micro-credential, the Authority is looking to deliver the following learning outcomes: Understand the standard for tablets, capsules and pills set out in Therapeutic Goods Order No. 101 and relate the standard to manufacturing practice Understand the inorganic compounds, heavy metals and potential contaminants which may be involved in pharmaceutical production Describe and apply a variety of experimentation techniques to test minerals and finished products for safety and quality Through the development of the Practical Foundations of Microbiology micro-credential, the Authority is looking to deliver the following learning outcomes: • Identify and describe the different families of micro?organisms and their functional differences • Understand the variety of sterilisation techniques used to ensure safety and quality in pharmaceuticals manufacturing • Apply sterilisation techniques to eliminate and/or mitigate the impact of different micro-organisms in products for human consumption Through the development of the Practical Foundations of Organic Chemistry micro-credential, the Authority is looking to deliver the following learning outcomes: • Identify and describe the functional groups in botanical ingredients • Understand the different vitamins and their biological interaction with the body Use enzymes, catalysis and other lab procedures to isolate organic compounds for safe use in pharmaceutical manufacturing
