Maroochydore Central Precinct - District Strategy Master Plan

Maroochydore is the capital of the Sunshine Coast. The Sunshine Coast Regional Council has secured a strategic 53 hectare land parcel in central Maroochydore to plan, develop and deliver an international exemplar in town centre development, urban investment and jobs. The project is a unique greenfield CBD opportunity and Council has taken the lead role in acquiring the site.

Council is seeking proposals from leading and innovative planning and design consultants to progress the masterplanning of the new CBD for the Sunshine Coast. This work will include leading and coordinating a multi disciplinary consultancy team to both prepare the masterplan for the site and the associated planning application. It is expected this will include masterplanning, urban design, economics, engineering, environment, sustainability, traffic and statutory planning.

The Sunshine Coast is recognised as one of the fastest growing regions in Australia. Maroochydore is designated as the Principal Regional Activity Centre for the Sunshine Coast by both Council and the State Government.

The Sunshine Coast region is located approximately one hour north of Brisbane and has a current population of 338,000 people. This is forecast to increase to 500,000 by 2031.
