WA Department of Water
Carting of Emergency Livestock Water into Affected Parts of the Esperance Region
Details
Description
As a result of the current dry season several rural shires have been identified as potentially requiring an emergency response to water deficiency over the 2010/2011 season. Under the Water Deficiency Declaration Guidelines, (see Attachment 1), the Department of Water is obliged to cart water for livestock into affected areas for a long as the declaration is current. With support from the Department of Agriculture and Food and the Water Corporation, the Department of Water has made pre-emptive plans to prepare for a water deficiency declaration, should one be announced by the Minister of Water.
In order to be able to provide water to farmers in the affected parts of the Shire of Esperance, the Department of Water is seeking the services of one or more suitably experienced and equipped providers to transfer defined volumes of water from the designated loading point to the designated off-loading point, on an ‘as required’ basis.
