Description

The original motion controller on the Benton was replaced with a Carco Model DR3200 Multi-Axis Digital Encoding System (MADES) in 2001 in conjunction with an acquisition of the Carco 3-axis FMS. Both the Benton and Carco FMS currently have their motion controlled by individual MADES DR3200 controllers produced by Carco Electronics.Given the MADES controller technology is over ten years old, if any components fail, obtaining replacement parts may now be difficult. The upgrade to the motion controller for both the Benton and Carco FMS is to reduce the risk of downtime in the event of failures and potentially improve the performance of the FMS.
