Provision of Alcohol and Other Drug Testing

1.1.1 The Public Transport Authority (PTA) has a zero tolerance of alcohol and/or other drugs in the Workplace.
1.1.2 The PTA is required to:
• take appropriate action to ensure the work performance, safety and health of people is not influenced by alcohol and/or other drugs;
• require all employees and contractors who conduct services for or on behalf of the PTA to comply with the PTA Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) policy at a minimum or their policy, whichever is the higher standard as determined by the Divisional Safety Manager;
• ensure appropriate reporting, monitoring and management systems for the testing of its employees and contractors are in place;
• conduct alcohol and other drug testing of current and prospective employees and its contractors in the form of:
i. For Cause Testing;
ii. Due cause testing;
iii. Random and/or blanket testing; and
iv. Fitness for work assessment and management programs.
