Project Manager for Mobilisation of Drilling Rigs and Fraccing Equipment for Unconventional Energy (Shale Gas, Tight Gas and Geothermal)
Details
Description
Project Manager for Mobilisation of Drilling Rigs and Fraccing Equipment for Unconventional Energy (Shale Gas, Tight Gas and Geothermal)
For the long term development of domestic gas supply in Western Australia new projects are to be developed to meet the demands of future growth. Without this growth in future supply the development of this State’s economy will be severely compromised.
A number of key projects are scheduled to start up in the near term and a number of iron ore projects in the Pilbara and Midwest are expected to begin construction over the next five years. Given the surge in demand it is likely that a shortfall will occur. Consequently additional sources of energy must be developed to meet the medium to long term demand.
Unconventional energy resource (tight gas, shale gas and geothermal) projects are costly to undertake. Furthermore, the fledgling nature of the Western Australian industry mean that there is a lack of equipment available in Western Australia, and few companies with the expertise or financial wherewithal to conduct the necessary exploration. Government can play a role by coordinating exploration efforts between companies to ensure the most efficient use of these scarce resources and expertise. It could also contribute to the mobilisation costs of rigs being brought from overseas into Western Australia. Without such equipment no exploration can take place, and without exploration no market for drilling equipment can result.
This Request is to contract a specialist Project Manager, who would consult with companies about their drilling equipment requirements for their upcoming exploration campaigns, provide information to an Expert Group to enable a decision to be made, and then monitor any resulting projects and funding.
