BOXTHORN CONTROL: SIR JOSEPH BANKS GROUP CONSERVATION PARK, EYRE PENINSULA

The Department for Environment and Heritage invites itemised tenders for the removal of boxthorn on Reevesby and Winceby islands, Sir Joseph Banks Group Conservation Park, Eyre Peninsula. REEVESBY ISLAND The project requires a contractor and assistant to operate an existing tractor on Reevesby Island to doze/cable boxthorns and heap them for burning. The assistant will be required to cut and swab boxthorn on the coastal fringe and burn previously dozed heaps. The contractor will be responsible for routine servicing and repair of minor breakdowns. The project is proposed for 240 hours (30 working days weather permitting). Contract works must be finished by May 25, 2001. While the tractor is considered to be in good operating condition, in the event of a major breakdown the project may finish prematurely. If this occurs the contractor will be paid for the work completed. The successful tenderer is responsible to organise boat transport to and from the island. WINCEBY ISLAND The project requires a contractor and 3 crew to cut and swab mature boxthorn plants and regrowth and heap them for burning. The Department for Environment and Heritage will supply the required chemical. The contractor is responsible for the supply of all other associated equipment and materials. The contract is proposed for 40 hrs. Contract works must be conducted in April, 2001 and finished by April 27, 2001. The successful tenderer is responsible to organise boat transport to and from the island.
