Fremantle Line - Sutherland Street Rail Bridge - Inspection and Engineering Support

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is seeking the services of a suitably qualified and experienced consultant to undertake the following Scope of Services on the Sutherland Street Rail Bridge: Conduct engineering inspections,Record and monitor the bridge defects, andEngineering assessment and consultancy support. Registration of New vehicle registration: Engineering assessment of New vehicle and provide assessment report. The Sutherland Street Rail Bridge (Ellipse equipment number: F003.450/SC/RAB) is located on the Fremantle line and spans over Sutherland Street in West Perth. The existing drawing record shows the age of the bridge is approximately 112 years old. The bridge is a single-span ballasted dual narrow-gauge track rail bridge. The bridge superstructure comprises riveted main girders of varying section geometry with additional longitudinal stringers and transverse cross-bracing. The bridge superstructure is supported by masonry abutments. Since 2021, GHDAJV has been engaged previously to carryout inspections, load rating assessment with rail vehicle information and strain gauge assessment to verify the bridge performance until 2024. Based on the findings of all assessments, the bridge is needed to be monitoring and inspection regularly until the bridge replacement works planned in FY26/27 to maintenance the safety operation of rail bridge.
