Description

Australasian Experimental Stockfeed Extrusionprocessing plant and associated equipment.

Located at SARDI Feed Extruder Facility Roseworthy Campus University of Adelaide, Roseworthy

The centre piece of the AESEC Stockfeed Extrusion Processing plant is the Wenger X85 cooking extruder (with preconditioner and liquid injection system) coupled with a two stage drying system and a UAS Industries - Vacuum Infusion system (VIS).

Cost benefits the AESEC Equipment

Product R&D of extruded feeds using commercialâ??scale equipment is expensive as it leads to production downâ??time, is timeâ??consuming, uses large quantities of raw materials and produces a large amount of waste.

The Wenger X85 provides an economical alternative for product R&D, with process settings fully scalable to commercial production machinery. As little as ½ to 1 tonne of ingredients are sufficient for pellet development processes. Once the process and extruder configuration has been defined, production runs as small as 50 kg are possible with minimal waste, up to full production of at least 600Kg per hour.

Technical capabilities

The Wenger X85, two stage dryer and UAS VIS is capable of manufacturing a range of extruded products with:

• ingredient throughput of 100 to 600 kg/h

• pellet diameters of 1.2 to 20 mm

• controlled bulk densities (floating or sinking properties)

• incorporation of fat & oil (fat levels exceeding 30% using VIS)

• microingredient addition

• pellet coating

The AESEC also has the capability to formulate diets; source, grind and mix ingredients; and manufacture products using cold pressed milling machinery.

The equipment is in excellent condition having done only 1105 hours on the extruder clock, due to R&D work only, (not full time production), and only recently closed down due to change of R&D emphasis by SARDI. Please register and dowload documents for full details.
